Plans for a 17-story residential tower in the city’s Park West neighborhood have been abandoned after pressure from neighborhood groups.
43rd Ward Alderman Michele Smith put out a statement to her constituents explaining what happened that killed the Pappageorge Haymes-designed project called 2775 North Hampden Court:
After several months of discussion and prolonged negotiations among my office, the Park West Community Association, local neighbors and the developer to explore potential changes, it became clear that the current proposal could not be realistically modified to address neighborhood concerns. As a result, the proposal will not be going forward.
I am grateful to the many members of the community who gave their time to participate in our public process. The property owners are being encouraged to carefully consider the feedback they received as they contemplate future development concepts.
The developer, Lexington Homes wanted to build a 78-unit residential tower and four single family homes, along with 81 parking spaces.
