Watch This Space: Another Surface Lot Goes Bye Bye

We’re always happy to report when a surface parking lot gets its walking papers.  The latest lot soon-to-be rent from Chicago’s urban fabric is at 905 North Orleans Street.  That’s where Ascend Real Estate Group has been given the green light from the city for its less-than-imaginatively-named 905 Orleans building.

The 18-story apartment block was designed by FitzGerald Associates.  When complete, it will have 202 residences, 149 parking spaces, 108 bicycle parking spaces, and 1,750 square feet of retail space.

Among its more interesting amenities, this building will boast a dog wash station, and a community garden.

The Chicago Architecture Blog’s Daniel Schell went by the other day, and the lot is still just a lot.  No signs of soil testing or any other imminent construction. But with a location hard against the CTA Brown and Purple line tracks, a lot of people will be watching this one.
