What’s New at Old St. Mary’s?

Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1500 South Michigan Avenue

When last we checked in on Old St. Mary’s back in May, the South Loop church had just been granted permission by the city to build an addition onto the facility at 1500 South Michigan Avenue. We Slooped our way down there Wednesday to see how they’ve progressed, and were able to take a quick look around the Mazur Construction workplace.

Designed by Charles Newman of Newman Architecture in Naperville, 11,000-square-foot* extension will boast gymnasium/social hall with a retractable performance stage, more parish offices, and additional meeting and classroom space.

*Note –  The OSM website lists this as a 17,000 sq ft project; the 11,000 sq ft figure was quoted to us by Mazur Construction.
